Thanks to this choice of subjects the students also learn about the basic categories of problems related to management and get an overview of the following topics: selected management methods and techniques, total quality management in accordance with applicable regulations, business ethics and the importance of informal organisations in managing a company. Skills acquired in the area of management and entrepreneurship can be tested during a complex business game, whereas setting up individual and group projects helps students to better identify and analyse problems to be able to suggest relevant systemic and operational solutions.
General Management
This module will familiarise participants in the Program with issues related to modern organisations in the context of effective and efficient management. Students get a closer view of techniques which are useful when taking managerial decisions such as developing an assessment system, value analysis, competence tables or sociogrammes. Many practical examples will illustrate characteristic features of global companies and highlight various paradoxes of contemporary management.
PROMAR Management Game
Part of the Management module includes is the management game. Participating teams work under life-like conditions to obtain the best financial result from the sale of production. The game is comprehensive covering the most important areas of any corporate activity: marketing management, finance, logistics, production, staff, strategic management, cost management, shaping price policies, negotiations, benchmarking and developing entrepreneurial forms of behaviour.
Human Resource Management
This module provides students with a solid foundation for managing human resources, one of the key functions in an organisation. All relevant aspects are analysed with special emphasis put on the latest global trends in this area and on understanding HRM in its international and cultural contexts. Through case studies and practical examples, students learn about motivation and developing leadership skills.
Strategic Management
This module focuses on such aspects of strategic management as functions and responsibilities of senior management as well as the nature and success of a company as a whole. Students learn about the complexity of the CEO position which requires decisions which will benefit the entire organisation. In addition, they are taught how to recognise and analyse key environmental and organisational variables which may influence corporate performance.
Business Law
The module concentrates on regulations which directly influence everyday economic activity. Numerous examples and exercises translate into reliable and practical knowledge of concluding and performing contracts (civil law), legal basis for economic activity (corporate law) as well as organisation and functioning of a company as a place of work (labour law).
Total Quality Management
The module focuses on the essence of managing through quality as a modern concept of management. Students learn about different aspects of quality improvement at the company starting from changing basic assumptions behind its functioning to specific solutions, practical suggestions and examples.
Business Ethics
The module teaches fundamentals of philosophy and ethics. It also discusses how principles of ethics may be applied when taking decisions. Students learn to better understand the social environment which gives rise to moral dilemmas related to business activity. During classes ethical models are applied to different scenarios with the aim of taking ethical decisions. Students will be shown examples of companies who have been successful in implementing a code of ethics. There will also be a section devoted to challenges facing companies operating in different cultures. Participants will also see how decisions taken by the management and employees influence corporate social responsibility.
